Updated August 2020
Wearing a luxury watch feels good. Whether you are the silent type who wears your timepiece quietly tucked under your french cuff or you are the more fortissimo type who wears your watch loudly and initiates conversations about it at the craps table or somewhere in between, the good feeling and good looks of a designer watch on your wrist can add style and spark to a warm summer day or night.

Read on for my top 5 summer favorites, in no particular order.
1. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Two Tone
(Retail approximately $20,000.00 USD.)
Bringing 18K yellow gold to the Sea-Dweller line for the first time; corrosion resistant and (virtually) scratch proof, the Sea-Dweller is built to resist extreme pressure and is guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 1,220 meters (4,000 feet).
With its striking dark face and crisp gold markings, the Two-Tone Sea Dweller is my personal favorite of all the Sea Dweller line.
Are you looking to buy a classic and powerful looking timepiece? If so, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller Two-Tone is the watch I recommend.
Update 2020: Due to the impact of Covid-19, the Sea Dweller is currently not available from our partners in two-tone. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea Dweller in Stainless Steel you may click this Amazon link now.
2. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean
(Retail approximately $8,350.00 USD.)
Taking a ride, this past May, to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean on Victor Vescovos two-man submersible Limiting Factor, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional has just been deemed the Deepest Diving Watch of All Time by Guinness Book of World Records; beating the 1960 record set by the Rolex Deep Sea Special and
making any model of the Planet Ocean line not only a great divers watch but also a great conversation piece.
Ranking in as the second most modestly priced timepiece on my list, don’t let the affordable price fool you. This luxury Omega watch is fine enough for James Bond to wear and surely fine enough to catch any summer on-lookers eye.
Reportedly water resistant 15,000 meters, the Seamaster Planet Ocean pays homage to the companies’ deep connection to the sea.
Update 2020: Due to the impact of Covid-19, the Seamaster as pictured may not be available from our partners at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For the Omega Seamaster with the blue/orange design you may click this Amazon link now.
Note, at time of writing this item is eligible for Amazon Prime.
3. Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer Great White Limited Edition
(Retail approximately $7,000.00 USD.)
Making its actual premier at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show, the Ulysse Nardin Diver Great White catches the eye with its thick body, strong look and detailed great white shark relief on the back case. Who will know the shark is there when you are wearing it? You will.
Water tight to 300 meters, the Super-LumiNova hands make hours and minutes visible in deep waters or outdoors on a dark summer night which makes it one of my summer favorites.
Only 300 of these timepieces are being made so if limited edition timepieces are your thing, this is a great watch to buy.
Update 2020: Due to the impact of Covid-19 and due to the limited number of pieces made, the Great White Limited Edition is unavailable from our partners at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For the Hammerhead Shark Limited Edition (300 pieces) also by Ulysse Nardin you may click the Amazon link now.
4. Hublot Big Bang One Click Rainbow King Gold
(Retail approximately $82,000.00 USD.)
Going against my typical tendency towards a simple timepiece, this luxury watch is probably my favorite on the list. Visually stunning with a 39 mm measure and rainbow pave of 473 colored gemstones, this timepiece takes the art of gem setting to its highest level.
Also available as a matte black skeleton dial, the 45 mm model Big Bang Unico Rainbow King Gold retails for approximately $92,000 USD and with every color of the rainbow present, it’s the perfect watch to match your entire summer wardrobe.
If you like pave perfection; rainbows or rose gold, this is the timepiece for you.
Update 2020: Due to the impact of Covid-19, the Big Bang One Click Rainbow King Gold may not be available from our partners. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For the Official Hublot Big Bang One Click Rainbow King Gold web page you may click here now.
5. A Lange Soehne Pour le Merite
(Retail approximately $73,000.00 USD.)
This is the watch I was talking about when I mentioned french cuffs earlier. This watch is packed with quiet power.
Looking at the back of this watch, you can openly see this magnificent timepiece boasting a fusee-and-chain
transmission; one of the most complex precision mechanisms in watchmaking. Additionally, with a limited release of only 50 pieces, this luxury watch is the pinnacle of any limited-edition timepiece collectors dreams.
The lean, three hand dial accompanied by the bold roman numerals, all enhanced by a black polished dial make this my favorite summer watch in terms of sheer elegance.
Update 2020: Due to the impact of Covid-19 and due to the limited number of pieces made, the Pour Le Merite by A. Lange & Sohne is unavailable from our partners at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The Saxonia 18KT White Gold Moon Phase Automatic, also by A. Lange & Sohne can be viewed by clicking here now.
